Ashwitha Jayakumar is the author over a dozen books for readers of all ages, including the award-winning The Book of Emperors: An Illustrated History of the Mughals (Penguin, 2024), which was also chosen for the Parag Honour List 2025.

Ashwitha has an MA in Literature & Society from the University of Edinburgh and an MA in Medieval Studies from the University of Leeds, and is co-founder of Indian Summer Press, an independent publisher of comics and graphic novels. She is a nerd and proud of it.
